User not defined or not assigned to the responsibility – ‘APS COLLECTIONS’

This article explains how to solve User not defined or not assigned to the responsibility – ‘APS COLLECTIONS’ error while submitting “Planning Data Pull” request in Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning.

Planning Data Pull

Planning Data Pull is a starting point while running Oracle ASCP Plan. This request pulls data from source instance. When you submit this request in planning instance, planning engine internally launches Refresh collection snapshot program in the source Oracle APPS EBS instance.

Source instance and planning instance can be on single oracle apps instance or distributed instances. In distributing setup source instance data is accessed using the DB link over the network.

The user was present in source but it did not have aps collection responsibility so the program error out. You will not get this error when both source and planning instance  on the same server

User not defined or not assigned to the responsibility – ‘APS COLLECTIONS’

Let me tell you how to resolve this error.

Oracle apps were distributed that mean Source and Planning instance is set up on a different instance.

If you get such error, you can check

  1. if the same user exists in EBS Source side
  2. if Aps collection responsibility is assigend to that user or not

How to assign responsibility?

Just ask DBAS to assign responsibility to the user or follow below instructions if you have System Administrator responsibility assigned.

Navigate to System Administrator -> Security -> User

Query your user name and assign the reposibitly to the user and save.

After that run planning data pull in planning instance. Your issue should get resolved and program should run fine.
