There are a good number of text editors available for Linux OS, ideally, no need to install Notepad++ on Linux. But you recently migrated to Linux and want to check Notepad++ then go ahead and read this article.
There is no native installation available for Ubuntu, so you need to use a snap created by one of the users. There is a wine-based Notepad++ snap package available. One of the main advantages of the snap package is you can install it on any Linux Distros like Debian, Mint, CentOS, OpenSuse, Arc, and others which supports snap.
Install Notepad++ On Ubuntu Linux
Login to Ubuntu and open the terminal and run the below command install Notepad++. Make sure you have sudo access.
1. First, let’s search the snap repository and see if Notepad++ is available.

2. Next, run the below command to install this snap as shown below.
sudo snap install notepad-plus-plus notepad-plus-plus 7.6.6 from Taqi Raza (mmtrt) installed
3. Post-installation type notepad-plus-plus on command prompt to launch it.
When you start the first time you get the below message wine configuration is being edited.
This is how it looks.
It worked fine for me. But if you face any issue run below command as per snapcraft forum.

Run snap remove command to remove Notepad++ From Unbutu.
sudo snap remove notepad-plus-plus
