How to Install Foxit Reader on Ubuntu 20.04

Foxit Reader is available for download from the project’s website.

Once you choose the download, which is for 64-bit Linux, you will download a tar.gz file that you can decompress from the graphical interface or by running it:

tar xvfz

This command from the same directory where the file is.

Then, assign run permissions to the file:

chmod +x FoxitReader.enu.setup.

Note: the file name will change according to the downloaded version. Just replace it with the appropriate one.

When you run the file, it will start the installation wizard where you can choose a location for the installation.

After that, you will have to accept the License terms.

When you accept them, the installation will start and will end with the following message

Running Foxit Reader on Ubuntu 20.04

Foxit Reader can be launched from the main menu as another application or you can take a PDF file and open it with Foxit Reader by right-clicking on the file.

Removing Foxit Reader

To uninstall it, just delete the folder you chose for the installation.

In this case, it was /home/ubuntu/opt/opt/foxitsoftware/foxitreader So, delete it running

rm -r /home/ubuntu/opt/opt/foxitsoftware/foxitreader

And then there will be no trace of Foxit Reader left.
