    How to install Gaucho Task Manager on Ubuntu 20.04

    Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop Version is one of the most popular operating systems out there and it’s partly thanks to the number of applications available. Well, today we are going to tell you about a task manager for Ubuntu 20.04 called Gaucho. So, in this post, you will learn how to install it on Ubuntu 20.04.

    According to the project’s website:

    Gaucho is an open-source, customizable task launcher to run your apps, commands, or scripts.

    One of the main advantages of the project is that with Gaucho you can organize all your day-to-day tasks, scripts, and server to run them quickly, with no extra annoying terminals.

    In this way, Gaucho is a great alternative when you need to create, modify and run tasks with a simple graphical interface. It also allows you to organize your scripts easily and even customize the graphical interface with themes.

    Another star feature of Guacho is that you can also schedule the execution of your tasks in a simple way. Moreover, the application can be installed on Windows, Linux, or macOS.

    Install Gaucho Task Manager on Ubuntu 20.04

    Gaucho is a cross-platform application that can be easily installed on many of our operating systems. In the case of Ubuntu, we have several methods to choose from.

    1. Using the DEB package

    In the download section of Gaucho, we will have available a DEB package that we can use in Ubuntu 20.04. To do this, visit the download section of the application.

    And download the DEB package available.

    Then, install it by double-clicking on it to start the installation.

    Alternatively, you can do it via terminal with this pair of commands:

    wget https://github.com/angrykoala/gaucho/releases/download/1.0.0/gaucho_1.0.0_amd64.deb
    sudo apt install ./gaucho_1.0.0_amd64.deb

    You can then run it from the main menu.

    2. Install Gaucho on Ubuntu via Software Center

    Another way to install Gaucho is by using the Ubuntu Software Center which is one of the most important shops in Linux.

    So open it from the main menu and search for Gaucho.

    Then, click on the best result which is the first one.

    Now you will see a screen showing all available information about the package. And to start the installation, click on the green Install button.

    Then, it will start the installation process and you will be able to run it from the main menu.

    There is a third method which is to use the snap command.

    To do this, run the following command

    sudo snap install gaucho

    You can then run it from the main menu.

    Once you run it from the main menu, you will see the main interface of the application.

    In it, you will be shown some sample tasks and if you click on the edit button on the top right of the application you will be able to delete them or add another one.

    To add one just click on the corresponding link and you will be able to give it a name, a command, and other options.

    Finally, you can consult the application options from the main menu.

    Removing Gaucho on Ubuntu 20.04

    If you don’t want to use Gaucho anymore then the best thing to do is to remove it from the system. To do this, it depends on the installation method you have chosen.

    In case you have used the first method to remove it from the system, just run.

    sudo apt remove gaucho

    In case you have installed Guacho from the Ubuntu Software Center, open it again and search for Gaucho in the search engine.

    Now click on the package name and now the remove button will appear, click on it, and the uninstall process will start.

    Finally, there is the third method which is via the snap command. To do this uninstall it by executing the following command

    sudo snap remove gaucho

    Then, you can uninstall it.
